SOAR has partnered with the Kentucky Department for Public Health’s Office of Health Equity to host the first-ever Appalachian Nursing Academy. The academy will be held from June 12-25 at the University of Pikeville.
The FREE two-week academy offers:
*Housing at the University of Pikeville
*Three meals a day
*Interactive programming with workshops, presentation, shadowing, mentorship, tours, etc.
*$1,500 scholarship to further your education
*Trips to see and experience regional attractions and activities
Want to apply? Here’s the criteria:
*You reside in one of Kentucky’s 54 Appalachian counties
*You are a rising junior or senior at your high school
*You do not have to have any prior experience related to nursing to apply. Your interest is all that matters.

Your Green Dragons brought home a win tonight with a 7-4 victory over Harlan County. The Green Dragons had 12 hits with John Mark Bryson going 3-for-4 at the plate. On the mound for Harlan, Dawson Irvin struck out 11 batters. Way to go, Dragons! 💚. #family
🎶🎶🎶Congratulations to the HHS/HMS band members who participated in the Kentucky Music Educator's Association Solo and Ensemble Event on Saturday at the University of the Cumberlands! The Harlan band program was represented by 23 solo and small group events. 19 of those events received Distinguished ratings and the other 4 were rated Proficient. We are proud of our Green Dragon musicians!
Miranda Brock, freshman at HHS, was recently selected as a Delegate to the Congress of Future Medical Leaders.

Harlan Technology Student Association will be competing at the state competition for Kentucky TSA in Lexington, Kentucky this week. Harlan TSA will be competing in Technology Problem Solving with a team consisting of Cameron Reynolds and Christopher Taylor, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle with a team consisting of Caleb Engle and Jared Eldridge, and Technology Bowl with a team consisting of Jared Eldridge, Cameron Reynolds, and Christopher Taylor. Harlan will also be represented in the Voting Delegate Session by our delegates Caleb Engle, Cameron Reynolds, and Christopher Taylor. We wish all the participants the best of luck.
