Hello, Harlan Independent students and parents! It's going to be an exciting school year!
Throughout the year, I will be communicating with you a lot about scholarships and college preparation! I will be using several forms of communication to ensure that messages reach everyone successfully. The most used communication forms will be through the all-call system, school website, handouts, and posting information on the bulletin board. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call or email me.
*Reminder for students- ACT dates, registration forms, and study materials are available on the book rack outside the counselor's office. You may also pick up any available college information. If you need information about a college that is not readily available, let me know, and I will get it ASAP.
Scholarships
The sooner you start, the better!! Scholarship planning and completion take real work but can help families staring at tuition payments. We hope that we can be of assistance in your search and securing of scholarships and information.
We have developed this page as another resource to help you on your scholarship journey.
Please remember that there are thousands of scholarships available to you every year. You will have to work to get those scholarships, and the sooner you start, the better. Collecting information, making good grades, performing service projects, and doing your homework will pay dividends down the road. So whether you are a Freshmen or a Senior, now is the time to get to work.
Career Cruising and the Individual Learning Plan (ILP) is an excellent source to research colleges and scholarships. Seniors have received their ILP usernames/passwords, and all other students and parents will be receiving theirs very soon! GET STARTED ON YOUR SEARCH TODAY!
Starting with the graduating class of 2014, transcripts are now available through an easy to use online system from Parchment. If you need additional help on setting up an account connected to Harlan High School, please contact the school counselor.
