As a service to the community, Harlan FRYSC is proud to offer parenting classes through a grant from Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky. Parent educator Mrs. Mary Lou McCarthy leads Nurturing Parenting classes at the Harlan County Public Library (Mondays at 1:00, free and open to the public) and at Cumberland Hope Community. Through an additional grant from the Commonwealth Center for Fathers & Families, Mrs. McCarthy provided a 6-workshop course ("Back on Track") this summer for residents of Epiphany House and members of Harlan County Specialty Court. We are pleased to announce that with a grant from the National Fatherhood Institute, Mrs. McCarthy's offerings are expanding to include the Harlan County Detention Center, where she will teach the InsideOut Dads curriculum to the Substance Abuse Program residents.
