🐉 Great things are happening at HMS! -Students in Mrs. Saylor's class worked hard to present book projects to their classes! -Students in Mrs. Howard's class completed a cookie rock lab to compare different cookies to the different types of rocks that they had to learn about!

🐉 We would like to give a special shoutout to two of our amazing students that are currently competing at the State MathCounts Competition at Western Kentucky University: Thomas Leo Miller and Clarissa Yost! These two embody the standard of excellence that is set forth in the Harlan Independent School District!

🐉 Great things are happening at HMS! Students are being immersed in vibrant learning experiences as we buckle down with our eyes towards testing. It's Operation:Finish right now at HMS! -Students in Mr. Varner's classes worked collaboratively to create presentations over the Zhou and Shang Dynasties of Ancient China! Students also explored the landscape of China through Google Map Exploration! -Students in Mrs. Howard's classes studied digital and analog waves to see which type of transmission was more reliable! Students were immersed in the experience throughout the entire class and worked together to record and analyze data! -Students in Mrs. Jackson's Friday club got to create and personalize their own slime! These are just some of the many great things going on at HMS!

🐉 The months of March and April are going to be March Madness Attendance Months! Grade levels will go against each other throughout the next two months to see which grade has the best attendance! It is critical for all of our students to be in school everyday as we push towards the finish line!

Free Harlan Student Ticket Challenge for the Girls 52nd District Championship Game. The Harlan Lady Dragons will take on the HC Black Bears on Thursday, February 27th at 7:00PM at Harlan High for a chance to cut down the nets and be crowned 52nd District Champions. As a result of some generous donations, we will award the students from one of our schools with free tickets for the game. The school with the highest two-day attendance percentage will win free tickets for their entire school. To be eligible for a free ticket, a student must be at school all day (no tardies) on Wednesday and Thursday, February 26th and 27th. Student tickets are $8. We will announce the winning school on Thursday afternoon along with instructions for the winning school on how to get into the game. Today's attendance rate: Harlan Elementary - 93% Harlan Middle -93% Harlan High - 94% The competition starts tomorrow, Wednesday, February 26th.
