The Louisville Orchestra presented a brass quintet performance for Harlan Independent students on November 3. Students much appreciated and enjoyed this unique opportunity to experience professional music as the sounds of a tuba, trombone, French horn, and trumpets filled the auditorium. In between songs, the musicians answered questions from the audience about careers in the arts, instruments, and music. Afterward, students could meet the musicians and see the instruments up close. Thank you to the Louisville Orchestra for bringing this incredible opportunity to Harlan Independent! 🐉 🎼 #LouisvilleOrchestra

Reading as a family creates connections, builds relationships, and helps build strong readers. We loved seeing our wonderful families join us and our students get excited about books! 📚

You lost it? We found it! Make sure to swing by our Lost & Found at Harlan Elementary to see if we found your missing items! 👀

Don’t forget to visit the library during Family Literacy Night tonight from 5:00-7:00. Buy a book at the Book Fair or enjoy a good read at one of our reading nooks. 📖📚

This a reminder that there will be no Dragons Beyond the Bell this evening due to Family Literacy Night. We hope you’ll join us at 5:00!

Harlan Elementary School recently held the second Fitness Fair for the school year. Students in Ms. Wilson’s Health & PE classes will participate over two days of fitness. On Day 1, students moved through fitness stations - BMI & Body Fat %, Grip Strength, Sit & Reach, Sit-Ups, and Bear Crawl. On Day 2, students will attempt to walk a mile (30 laps) around the gym and participate in a lesson on the sugar and fat content in foods, portion sizes, and healthy vs. unhealthy foods. The HES Fitness Fair was held in collaboration with the 4H Extension Office and Harlan ARH. Several other staff members also volunteered their time to help make the Fitness Fair a success. It was definitely a team effort from all students, teachers, and volunteers!

We want to invite all of our families to join us at Family Literacy Night tonight from 5:00-7:00 pm. We look forward to seeing you! 📖📚
