February is a great time for family! Harlan FRYSC is encouraging all HES students to participate in the February Family Time Challenge. Fill out the calendar with 10 dates that your child read at home for at least 10 minutes (either with you, or independently), and three times that your family ate dinner together without any electronics. Return the completed calendar to school by March 1 to win a prize! Copies went home with students last week, but extras can be picked up from Miss Nettie at the front desk of HES.

Reminder: There’s no Dragons Beyond the Bell today due to parent-teacher conferences. Mid-terms can be picked up in the office. Teachers are available from 3:30 to 5:30 pm.

Harlan Elementary School is focusing on Kindness, Equality, and Mindfulness throughout the month of February. We want to encourage and remind students how important it is to treat others and themselves with kindness and respect.
HES will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week, February 12th - 16th. Below is a week of fun dress-up days and daily kindness challenges for our students. Students will participate in various activities throughout the week to show kindness towards our friends and staff.
We are sending home a calendar and a checklist of different Random Acts of Kindness that you can complete with your child for fun! If you’d like, you may also write a kind note of gratitude or encouragement to a staff member. We will distribute them in their mailboxes on Thursday, February 15th.
Thank you for helping us teach our students the power of kindness!!

We want to congratulate our Harlan Elementary School Academic Team on their outstanding performance at today’s District Governor’s Cup Academic Team competition held at Cawood Elementary School. The HES Academic Team Captured their 7th Consecutive District Championship Title. Congratulations to all our students and coaches on their hard work. The Green Dragons captured the top three spots in every category except composition, while also going undefeated in Quick Recall and winning the Future Problem Solving competition. #7inarow #familyofdragons 🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🐉🏆🏆
