🐉 Great things are happening at HMS! Operation UNITE, in collaboration with Harlan FRYSC and the Partner for Rural Impact worked together to provide “On the Move” which is a drug education and prevention initiative at 7th and 10th grade students. The students were educated about the dangers of making poor choices related the use of alcohol and other drugs. Students were further challenged to operate simulation cars while wearing visual impairment googles. Thank you Operation UNITE for a great program!
Harlan High School parents/guardians: We will be sending home report cards for the 1st 9 weeks this afternoon. Be looking for them in your child's backpack!
HES students in Ms. Wilson’s Health & PE classes recently took part in a Fitness Fair. Students completed different stations, such as sit-ups, wall push-ups, bear crawl, balance, sit and reach, etc. Several members of the community come to help during the Fitness Fair. Members came from ARH, SKCTC, 4H Extension Office, FRYSC, Save the Children, 21st Century, and PRI. Students also received a healthy snack at the end of the Fitness Fair. Through this event, students get to learn about healthy activities and snacks, as well as the careers of those who volunteer during the stations. It was an awesome experience for all those involved!🐉
🐉🐉 Great things are happening at HMS! Recently, PRI funded the opportunity to begin a LEGO Robotics Team at HMS. Select students in 5th and 6th grade with the help of Mrs. Howard and Mr. Dickenson are working to build a team to assemble a robot and complete missions towards the chance of competing at the Regional Tournament in Hazard in December!
This is another great experience for students as we aim to continue to give them more opportunities here at school. We are thankful for the help from PRI and the work that Mrs. Howard and Mr. Dickenson have put in to make this opportunity possible!
