For the past five years he has been working with FRYSC at Pineville and has assisted with their football program. Jamie is very excited about this new opportunity and cannot wait to get to work with the students of Harlan Independent. Jamie will be joining Harlan Middle School in a support staff role and will be an assistant on the coaching staff for the Harlan High School Football Team. Awesome opportunity for Harlan Middle School students!!! 🐉🐉🐉 Middle School students across Harlan County, mark your calendars for July 8-12 for an exciting summer camp hosted at Harlan Middle School in partnership with Rural UP. Use the QR code to get registered today or use the link at www.ruralup.org. We will be giving away (6) six refurbished iMac 21" iMac computers during the camp, so make sure you register early to secure your spot. The STEM Explorer Camp is designed to ignite a passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). The program engages students in hands-on activities, challenges, and other interactive learning experiences. Each day, students will be introduced to a different STEM topic to explore, including cybersecurity, Al, micropipettes, circuits, and much more! The Cyber Arcade will provide a fun and creative introduction to computer science and hands-on making for makers with little to no experience in programming and 3D design. Using a Micro:bit (a pocket-sized computer) and MakeCode, young makers practice problem-solving and teamwork to create interactive arcade games. Makers have opportunities to develop knowledge in computer science, engineering, art, and game design, as well as gain exposure to real-world industry concepts.

Rachel brings 16 years of teaching experience. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University, a Master of Arts in Education-University of the Cumberlands, and Rank 1 in Teacher Leadership from Morehead State University. She is a member of Kentucky Center for Mathematics’ Kentucky Math Teacher Leader Program as serves as a Peer Mentor with Southeast/South Central’s Deeper Learning Program. Rachel is married to Tim Yost and has a daughter, Clarissa. Welcome to the Dragon family. 🐉🐉🐉

The SEBT program aims to provide additional nutritional support to eligible students (age 6-17) who have received SNAP, KTAP, and /or Kinship Care for at least one month since July 1st , 2023, and students who are deemed income eligible through an approved SEBT application. Students who do not fall into the above category, and are within the income eligibility limits, can apply for SEBT Online at https://KYSEBT.ky.gov/ or can be addressed through http://kynect.ky.gov/benefits/ Or by calling 855-306-8959. If eligible, you can expect to receive a one-time lump sum issuance of $120 per eligible child, if approved, for the summer period. Replacement card requests can be made by calling 888-979-9949.
