Gobble gobble! HES students hunted turkeys with their families in downtown Harlan, using clues to find the turkeys hidden in the windows of local businesses. Families completing the hunt received an apple pie. The #kyfamengage event was sponsored by 21st Century, FRYSC, and Save the Children.

Harlan High School was represented at the Southeastern Kentucky Music Association (SKMA) All-Festival Chorus held recently in Corbin, Kentucky.
Participating students included Ethan Farley, Kevin Thomas Lee, Jon Lewis, and Lacie Garland. The Harlan Boys Choir and Musettes are under the direction of Mrs. Marilyn Schraeder and Mrs. Clara Adkins Pope.
Students and staff at Harlan Elementary School held their annual "Balloons Over Harlan" Parade. Student carried balloons through downtown Harlan in Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade fashion.
Escorted by Harlan Police Chief Winston Yeary and followed by Santa Clause in the Harlan City Fire Department fire truck, the parade was held in honor of the many health care workers in our community.

We want to remind everyone that the Annual Harlan Elementary Balloons Over Harlan Parade will take place tomorrow at 1pm! Dress warm, wear a coat and bring back those permission slips in the morning!!
Our Grand Marshals for the parade will be our healthcare workers! If you are a healthcare worker and have a student at HES, please join us in walking the parade route! We will begin lining up in front of the elementary school at 12:40! The students will walk down central street, around the courthouse and up Clover Street to return to the school! If you want to watch the parade, you may line up anywhere along the parade route!
Also, be on the lookout for a special guest riding in the firetruck!

Tonight is Big Green Madness! 🏀🐉 Come out and support your Green Dragon basketball players and cheerleaders of all grade levels. It's going to be a night of fun! Doors open at 6:30 pm and the introductions begin at 7:00 pm.
HHS 9th graders caught a glimpse into their future with a “Reality Fair.” Based on GPA, students chose a career and used their potential income to pay for housing, utilities, childcare, vehicles, and other real-life expenses. Depending on whether or not any money remained in their bank accounts afterwards, students received either a Payday or Zero candy bar. The program was sponsored by Harlan County 4H and Harlan FRYSC, with the help of many community volunteers.
